About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Moving Lead to oversee and coordinate moving operations for residential and commercial clients. The Moving Lead will be responsible for leading a team of movers, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of belongings, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines excellent leadership, customer service, and physical dexterity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and Lead Moving Crews: Manage and coordinate a team of movers to ensure smooth and efficient moving operations, both locally and long-distance.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the move, addressing questions, concerns, and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Pre-Move Preparation: Oversee the preparation of the move, including planning the logistics, organizing supplies (boxes, packing materials, etc.), and reviewing client instructions.
  • Safely Handle Belongings: Ensure the safe handling, packing, and transportation of all items. Supervise the proper loading and unloading of moving trucks, ensuring that items are protected from damage.
  • Quality Control: Conduct pre- and post-move inspections to ensure the job is completed to satisfaction and identify any damages or issues that need to be addressed.
  • Team Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to moving crew members on best practices, equipment handling, and customer service techniques.
  • Maintain Equipment: Ensure that moving equipment, including trucks, dollies, and other tools, are in good working condition and ready for use.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues that may arise during the move, from scheduling conflicts to damage concerns.
  • Time Management: Ensure all moves are completed on time, managing the crew’s efficiency and productivity while maintaining quality standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete and submit move-related paperwork, including inventory lists, timesheets, damage reports, and customer feedback forms.
 

Core Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the moving industry, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy items, standing for long periods, and moving furniture.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team, ensuring that all team members are efficient and productive.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional communication and customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to oversee the safe packing, transportation, and unloading of belongings with precision.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected challenges with professionalism and poise.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with industry safety standards and ability to ensure that the team follows safety protocols.
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus for long-distance moves.
  • Moving Certification: Formal training or certifications in moving or logistics.
  • Experience with Heavy Equipment: Experience operating large moving trucks and other heavy-duty equipment.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified: Certification in basic first aid or CPR is a plus, as moving can involve some safety risks.

Time Commitment

This position requires a minimum availability of 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary based on project deadlines, with occasional evening or weekend work required. Flexibility is essential during busy seasons or for special projects.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive, based on experience starting at $20/hour
  • Compensation Schedule: 
    • First 90-Days: Hourly, Part-Time
    • After 90-Days: Salary, Full-Time 
      • Eligible to elect for Medical, Dental and Vision benefits 
  • Opportunities for growth into other roles in the company
  • Eligible for a personally designated Surv vehicle 
  • Personal travel reimbursement of $150 per year
